For each of the types of content below, they are all added and edited in much the same way. Each of the types of content can be accessed via the left menu in Control Panel, under their respective heading.
For each content type, you can add a new one by clicking on the menu item, then clicking 'Add New'.
You can view a list of existing content in each type simply by clicking its menu item. From the list, you can search with the search box at the top-right or use the page navigation at the top and bottom right.
Pages are static. They are a good way to publish information that doesn’t change much, like an About page. Use pages for the bulk of accessible information on your site. This is the content that will appear in your mobile app and on menu items on your website.
Adding your pages to a category allows you to choose which section they will be displayed under in your School Stream app.
Alerts are reserved for important announcements, they are short in nature, varying from a few words to at most, a sentence or two.
Perhaps a storm warning, the buses are late or a sporting event has been cancelled at the last minute. Alerts will let your parents, students and staff know what is happening when it is happening.
The newsletters section is used for the types of newsletters you would normally mail-out, send home with students, or email out in PDF form. Here you can construct an entire newsletter within the editor, as well as attaching a file that will be available for download from the mobile app or your website.
Events is a special content type that allows you to construct details of an event. We recommend adding a venue, which will display a map of the location to your users. Make sure to add a start and end time so your users can add the event directly to their calendar on their mobile device.
Within each content type
For all content types, there is an excerpt box. It is highly recommended that you enter a short description of up to 20 or 30 words that describes the full article. This allows the mobile app to better convey information to the user on the home screen.
For newsletters, news and events, it also allows your website to display summary information to your users in sections where the content is presented as a list.
